Lime 🍋🟩 Twist Set № 01
The first set of prompts for the August mini-challenge!
Hi everyone, it’s Tammy, welcome to the Lime Twist challenge. This is the first set of “twists” for you to tackle, ponder, and otherwise contemplate. In other words, let’s go make stuff!
Mini-challenge: Lime Twist 👀
Let’s shake things up a smidgeon! Here’s how it works. Easy peasy. Challenge open to all. Free, no registration required. Start anywhere. Do any or all. I’ll share a set of 5 actionable “twists” each week this month. Now here’s the fun part. If more than one resonates/sounds tempting (and you have time), that’s wonderful, but one is enough.
🌞 each week, you'll get a batch of 5+ ideas

Again... ONE IS ENOUGH. One thing. In a week.
On the geographical map of ICADlandia 📍🗺️🪩 YOU ARE HERE actively scheming your next adventure(s). This is a fork in the road, a decision point. You’ve built the foundation, but how do you build on that? How do you stay motivated? How do you not jinx your progress?
Lime Twist Set № 01
🗝️ Select one (1) of these five (5) twists for this week.1
Please let me know if this sounds like fun! Are they too easy, too difficult? Can you find ONE that resonates!!?!?! Hint: You can use a twist as a warm-up or use it to prompt/start your art for the day.
Fit a shape or quotation in a limited space
Draw words, paint words, ✂️ cut words from a murder mystery book. Squeeze them into a limited space. Took me 3 tries to fit this on a 3x5” index card!
Swap drawing/painting tool and use it for ⏰ 45 minutes
Random ideas: round ➜ filbert, fountain pen ➜ mechanical pencil, colored pencil ➜ alphabet stamps. Here’s a page in gouache painted with a brush I don’t use that often (watercolor bright/flat).
Find-a-Prompt
Use a photograph from a walk “start something” i.e. telephone lines (doodle prompt), a fence (collage prompt), sidewalk cracks (landscape/abstract art prompt), or signage (lettering prompt). Capture the essence of the composition, shapes, mood. During the first few weeks of covid I gathered ideas from neighborhood sidewalks.
Film your process and watch it in reverse
Here’s a speedy 1:36 version of Sky Oasis2 (realtime process was 45 min) in gouache filmed during the 2024 100 Day Project. I’ve watched this like 10 times, it’s like the paint is being erased. The last brush (1st in the video 🙃) is called a long liner; it’s a tricky one!
Go to the bookstore/library and peruse coffee table books
There’s something lovely and inviting about paging through oversized hardback books with lush photography! I got my daughters Wild Interiors and Flavor Thesaurus.

Cheers,
Tammy
You are welcome to extrapolate or alter a “twist” to make it apply to the kind of work you are doing.
