Daisy Yellow № 128
We make art on index cards; it's a thing
Hi everyone, it’s Tammy, welcome to issue № 128. Thank you for being a subscriber. Daisy Yellow is a long-running project started 18 years ago at the beginning of my art journey as a place to share what I’m making & write about creativity.
Get set for a 🌈📇 reboot to refresh, renew, re-energize & spice up your life! 2026 marks the 16th iteration of the 61 day Daisy Yellow Index-Card-a-Day Challenge. And there’s a certain symmetry to that!
Daisy Yellow is reader-supported. If you want to keep it simple, skip the bonus stuff, and support my work, tips are welcome! Thanks, everyone!
As a thank you to paid subscribers 📆 next week we start a new series called Curious Tangents where we continue our dive into the creative process with experiments, epiphanies, side projects, and curiosities. My intention is to build a series of series, a constellation of series. 💫 Oh and I made a set of digital downloads for paper or digital collage. 🎉
If you are in need of a 🌈📇 reboot to refresh, renew, re-energize, and bring more happy into your day, please join me for the 16th annual Daisy Yellow Index-Card-a-Day Challenge! We go 61 days starting June 01, 2026. Follow the link to the welcome page and TL;DR.
💁🏻♀️ Please take a moment to read the introduction to this year’s challenge & learn how the challenge works at ICAD Rev № 16 Starts June 01. Historically about half of our creatives use the prompts and I’m sharing prompts a bit differently so I want you to know what to expect.
Prompts & warm-up activities go out Tuesday May 26 via instagram, substack notes, and the blog.
Here’s the plan. You’ll do something creative on an index card every day in June & July. Each card symbolizes a proactive decision to create art. It’s a small daily project, kind of like a sketchbook practice, basically a chance to play, try something different, build prototypes, and make discoveries.
The scope of our challenge is intentionally simple. It’s ridiculous 🔮 and magical. Most challengers find that working on an imperfect, un-precious substrate (the base for your art) shifts the risk to zero! And that, in turn, reduces friction. Which makes it easier to show up and create! It might be counter-intuitive but the simple base expands rather than limits creativity!!!
One of my tips is to make the project a normal part of the flow of the day. Something that doesn’t need perfect circumstances or a well-organized space or a lengthy ritual to get into the flow.

Creative Assignment1 № 14: Make a list of alliterative pairs of words connected to art & creativity. Add your word concoctions in the comments! Like this:
paisley palette / stapled sketchbook / typographic tapestry
Registration for Mixed Media Amusements opens late July
This is a fun workshop built around colorful, small-scale experiments that make art feel approachable and playful. We collage, art journal with acrylics, paint tiny abstracts on index cards, and doodle as well. I made a ⤴️ SNEAK PEEK video! 🎥 It’s self-guided, online, available 24/7 so you can explore at whatever pace you wish. Add your name to the email notification list. This is likely the last round before it is retired.

Downloadable heirloom digital ICAD badges 🆓 to share at instagram, blog, etc.
Sending hugs out to you over the invisible internet airwaves 🌀📻 because these are difficult times and nothing makes sense. I will continue to share words & art in the hopes of brightening your day. ❌⭕️❌⭕️
Cheers,
Tammy
